NOTE: I've never tried one of these "create a poem with these words" prompts because I thought I'd be bad at them but I actually really like this one!
TW: Death 5) Write a poem using all of the following words: smooth, soothe, work, dark https://www.creative-writing-now.com/creative-writing-prompts.html Bang! The shot flies through the air Screeching in my ears, Whirling past my hair. And before I can blink My skin’s no longer smooth, Blood is pouring And he’s there trying to soothe. It’ll be alright, It’ll all be alright, Just close your eyes. I swear this’ll work. Stay calm and breathe slow, Hold on don’t let go, Just close your eyes. Dark.

NOTE: Sorry most of these writing prompts lately have been poems; my wrist has been having some problems and poems are a lot easier to type up than short stories.
A mountain https://writersrelief.com/2018/12/14/125-of-the-best-poetry-writing-prompts-for-poets-writers-relief/ It towers above me Standing up tall. The world is so large And I feel so small. The challenge is daunting But I must move on. For if I don’t face it, I’ll surely be gone. So I must start to climb Higher and higher still, Past boulders and ice, And up and up until I reach the top of the mountain And can see how far I’ve come And then when I’m up I’ll start heading back down. The day a child was born https://writersrelief.com/2018/12/14/125-of-the-best-poetry-writing-prompts-for-poets-writers-relief/
TW: Mentions of death The memory of you burns my soul Whenever I think of it I start to cry Why did you leave me without a thought I didn’t even say goodbye But now I have this small gift The one thing you left me in this world I hold her in my arms bundled in cloths My sweet beautiful baby girl She has your gray eyes She has my ragged hair And she’s crying now too I try not to care But she belongs to you As well as belonging to me Now she’s the most of you That I’ll ever get to see 354. Turning Point: Write about a point in life where things turned for the better or worse. https://thinkwritten.com/365-creative-writing-prompts/
I look at him. He looks at me. This is the turning point. His hand on my waist. Do I stay, fight, or flee? This is the turning point. He’s always just been my friend But now that all might end. Should I run? I don’t know. Cause this is the turning point. Here I go. Hey.
That’s what I want to say To you. I want to hold your hand, Ask you how you do. I wanna tell you that I Really really love your hair. I want to smile at you And not have to hide my stare. I want to take your wrist, And grab your face, And hold you close to me. I’ll lean in as you do And tell you that I love you. Hey. That’s what I want to say. When day becomes night https://writersrelief.com/2018/12/14/125-of-the-best-poetry-writing-prompts-for-poets-writers-relief/
There’s a time everyday When the earth turns away from the sun. The day becomes dark, All the light is undone. The life goes to sleep, And the shadows awake. When the earth keeps on turning, What else will it take? When the light becomes shadow And the day becomes night, It’s dark and it’s awful, But it is quite a sight. But when you begin to worry That night will forever reign, The earth will keep on turning And dawn will come again. |
