Cold water: What feelings do you associate with cold water? Maybe it’s a refreshing cold glass of water on a hot day, or maybe you imagine the feelings associated with being plunged into the icy river in the winter. https://thinkwritten.com/poetry-prompts/
Cold water. One time when I was young, I was playing with my sister On the ice of a frozen lake. We were skating around, Laughing and playing And the ice beneath me did break. I plunged into the cold. It filled up every part of me, Soaking through to the bone. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. I felt so so alone. That’s how it feels now When I gaze at you And your eyes meet mine. They’re so cold Like that lake. I’m lying saying I’m fine Because once again I’m in that cold water Chilled to the bone By your gaze By your solemness And I feel so alone. TW: Cheating
Write a story about someone who believes they are an extremely good judge of character. https://blog.reedsy.com/creative-writing-prompts/general/write-a-story-about-someone-who-believes-they-are-/ Phoebe was an incredibly good judge of character. Ever since she was a young child, she had a certain gift for it. She could tell when someone was lying, when they were telling the truth, whether or not they were a good or bad person. Some people called it intuition, but it was much more than that. It was a gift. She, of course, used this gift in her day-to-day life. It was extremely helpful when making friends with people. After all, you didn’t want to be friends with a liar. Her gift was why she trusted him. He was always so straight-forward and he had never lied. This was immediately attractive to her-she had a certain affinity for people who didn’t lie-and they started dating soon after they met. Her gift was also why she never suspected anything. Their relationship had been amazing. They were both so perfect for each other: he was the funniest person on earth and she had a great sense of humor. She was so nice and he was so generous. They were both incredibly smart, amazing people. Or so she thought. NOTE: I’m still so unbelievably busy I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to upload as much but it’s all I can do to keep up with the WPW’s. Here’s chapter 17 of Ashera, I hope y’all enjoy it!
“-and let him always be with us. Amen,” the priest at the front of the church finished. He looked up at everyone. “Service dismissed. Remember to come to our dinner at my house this Wednesday.” People began to file out of the church. Ryan glanced sideways at Ashera. “What do we do now?” Ashera looked up at the front of the worship hall. The priest from before was talking to some women, smiling and laughing with them. “We should probably go up and ask if he knows where Quinn Kilo is.” “More talking?” Fox groaned. Rolling her eyes, Ashera led her two companions to the front. They waited politely until the priest turned to face their group. “Hello, welcome to our place of worship. I thought I saw some new faces out there. How can I help you all?” “We’re looking for a priest called Quinn Kilo. We were told that they work here?” “I am Quinn Kilo, although I prefer the title of Brother Kilo. How may I help you?” “Oh, well, this is going to be kind of hard to explain,” Ashera started. “But Golivun is in great danger. A man called The Alpha is trying to find the Orb of Reality and we have to find it before he does. So we went to find Malic and ask-are you okay?” At the mention of Malic, Kilo had stiffened. “Yes, yes, I’m fine. But I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask you all to leave.” “What?” “I have put that man and all of his business long behind me and it’s better if it stays that way.” “But Quinn-” “I said for you to leave,” he said. “Now.” Ashera wanted to say something else, but couldn’t. She sighed. Back to square one, and they were so close to having figured it out. Head down, she started making her way out of the church. Write about someone who returns as an adult to a place they last visited as a child.https://blog.reedsy.com/creative-writing-prompts/general/write-about-someone-who-returns-as-an-adult-to-a-p/
TW: Mentions of death I was 15 years old when I last came to the lake in the mountains. I used to come here all the time as a kid, camping trips almost every other weekend with my father and my brother Quinten. We had such a great time, Quinten, my father, and I. I would look forward to those trips all week. But then...disaster. My dad had been in an awful accident, died a few hours later. I couldn’t handle it. At 18, Quinten was left to take care of me. I did my best to help him, but I was only 15 and he wouldn’t let me quit high school to get a job. The two of us didn’t have time to go to the lake anymore, and we couldn’t have handled it either. I thought about coming back a few times throughout the years, but the thought of it sent me into hysterics. So why I was I here, 20 years later? Love is a miracle.
It causes so much pain, So much ruin, But we can’t abstain From its hold. Love is intoxicating. It brings so much joy In such a short time. You’d think it fake How you could feel sublime, But it’s real. But as soon as love leaves It destroys all joy. You’re left to derive, How one can feel so broken Yet still be alive? And yet We believe Because love is all that we have. Money and power and skill, They don’t matter. When you pause and life stands still Love is all that matters. In the end you’ll be judged For how much love Was in your heart. So we keep loving. And we persist. And that’s a miracle. Love is a miracle. |
