Why do we use the word “broke”
To describe the poor?
Do we like
To further the illusion
That if you don’t come from money
You’re broken?
What is happening?
The rising gap 
Between rich and poor
People left at their door
But it’s their fault, isn’t it?
They’re the ones who are broken
They should try harder
Work harder
This is the land of the free
Streets are paid with gold
Gilded and paved
For the poor to dig their graves
Upon
Their blood polishes, shines
The path for those who walk it
The wealthy
The whole
The unbroken
That’s the whole idea
Isn’t it?
