Cold water.
One time when I was young,
I was playing with my sister
On the ice of a frozen lake.
We were skating around,
Laughing and playing
And the ice beneath me did break.
I plunged into the cold.
It filled up every part of me,
Soaking through to the bone.
I couldn’t breathe.
I couldn’t think.
I felt so so alone.
That’s how it feels now
When I gaze at you
And your eyes meet mine.
They’re so cold
Like that lake.
I’m lying saying I’m fine
Because once again
I’m in that cold water
Chilled to the bone
By your gaze
By your solemness
And I feel so alone.
