“Write a poem or story associated with an animal.” -Kaby Walkers
TW: Death There’s a small bird outside my window She sings her song every morn’ She’s been singing long as I can remember Perched on a branch since the day I was born My mother she always watched her And commented on her sweet song She said, “I always loved that bird’s melody I hope her stay here is long.” My mother fed her some seed She adored that bird everyday I never quite understood But I still hoped she would stay It wasn’t for a few years Just after I’d turned fifteen My mother she started to shake It was unlike everything that I’ve seen She’d wake from her sleep with a fit Barely able to walk down the hall But still every morning She’d watch the bird sing for us all It was one gray morning it happened My mother passed before noon The bluebird she perched on her branch And sang us her mournful tune The next morning for the first time in years I couldn’t hear the bird’s song They both left this world at the same time Heading to where they belong
